How to add YouTube titles and descriptions
Klaas builds your YouTube title and description straight from your caption — there's no separate title field to fill in. Knowing how the mapping works lets you write a caption that publishes with clean metadata.
How your caption maps to YouTube
- Title — the first 100 characters of your caption become the video's title.
- Description — your full caption becomes the description shown below the video.
Because the opening of your caption doubles as the title, lead with a strong, self-contained first line and keep it under about 100 characters.
Write a caption that publishes well
- Open the composer at Create and start a new post with your video.
- Put the title you want as the first line — descriptive, keyword-rich, and under ~100 characters.
- Continue with the rest of your description below: context, links, and hashtags.
- That whole caption becomes the YouTube description; the opening line becomes the title.
Metadata tips
- Opening line — this is your title, so front-load the words your audience would actually search for.
- First ~125 characters — roughly this much of the description shows in search results, so put what matters early.
- Keywords — work relevant terms in naturally; don't stuff them.
- Call to action — tell viewers what to do next, lower in the caption.
Good titles and descriptions are how people find your videos, so it's worth shaping that first line with intent.
