Setting custom thumbnails for videos

Klaas lets you choose the cover frame for a TikTok video — the still that shows before it plays. Here's how it works and where platform rules limit it.

TikTok: pick your cover frame

  1. Open the composer at Create and add your video.
  2. Select TikTok as a destination so its options panel appears.
  3. In the panel, find the Cover control and drag the slider to scrub through the video.
  4. Stop on the frame you want — that becomes the cover.

If you don't set one, TikTok uses the first frame of the video by default.

One general limit

Your cover has to be a frame from the video itself. Klaas doesn't support uploading a separate image file as the thumbnail.

YouTube and other platforms

Cover-frame selection in Klaas is available for TikTok only. Other platforms fall back to their own defaults — for example, YouTube and YouTube Shorts don't allow custom cover selection through the API, so Klaas can't offer it there.

  • Instagram — not available in Klaas; Instagram uses its own default.
  • Pinterest — not available in Klaas; Pinterest uses its own default.
  • YouTube and Shorts — not available (API limitation).
